Touch Table Success.

I have had the parts and pieces for this in my garage for the last 2 years.  Finally made the time to put everything back together and get it running.  This is a 42" LCD with a camera based multitouch (80 point) system designed by SMART Technologies.

I have installed a variety of applications with mixed success.  So far the apps that work best are:

  1. BumpTop (A 3D multitouch desktop replacement bought by google)
  2. Civilization V
  3. Bejeweled 3
  4. Microsoft Touch Pack
    1. Blackboard
    2. Garden Pond
    3. Rebound
    4. Surface Collage
    5. Surface Globe
    6. Surface Lagoon
  5. Snowflake Touch Pack
  6. World of Goo

I plan to write an app that shows the DVD covers of the movies on my server in 3d, waving my hand from left to right will move the movie cover arch forward and backward.  The DVD in the middle (selected) would appear larger, double click would zoom in, flip the cover and show the back, a quick hand motion tossing the cover toward the TV would cause the TV to turn on and the movie to play.

I picked the cap kits up from http://www.therealbobroberts.net/ I also used my tube rejuvinator to bring all the colors back to the way they were 30 years ago.   Only have two left to complete on the PlayChoice 10 Cabinet.

Dinner at the Stampede, Meal-worm and Cricket.

IMAG0133

To quote my friend Darren "the worst tasting part was the pizza", we ended up eating every Meal-worm and Cricket and throwing away the pizza.

Solar for the RV.

Went for the first camping trip with the new RV and ran out of battery power, Solar to the rescue.

Only problem with the installation was trying to mount Panels to a fiberglass roof. I thought there would be wood to mount to underneath.. no such luck, the roof is composed of thin fiberglass with 3" of foam insulation. The internet would have you believe that all you need is some glue to hold the panels on, I don't trust glue so i ended up using glue and drywall drywall anchors.

RV Upgrade

Bought a T valve so I can run our BBQ off the main RV Propane tank. Installed in minutes and works great. I bought 20 feet of hose from BBQ's Galore for only $17.

Bens new old desk.

Sanded down Maurey's (wife) old desk in order to make it a little more fun :-).  Ben and I sanded down the desk and Ben picked out the Red and Blue color scheme.

Basement Progress

Its been a busy couple of weeks when it comes to the basement renovation.IMG_1256

  1. Framing completed
  2. Electrical completed
  3. Permits purchased
  4. Inspections completed
  5. Drywall Installed
  6. Walls Painted
  7. Electrical buttoned up
  8. Doors installed
  9. Carpet in
  10. Furniture moved down

I have a few items left to complete like the drop ceiling in two rooms.

The remaining items may slow down because I finally got the 84" TV moved in and installed 🙂  I had to hire a mover to bring down the last of the arcade machines and most of all the TV.  In the end the TV couldn't come down in the box so a pair of industrial suction cups and 3 movers were able to get it down the stairs.

I also bought a set of 4K documentary's today, I will let everyone know how they look when the arrive.

Went to the auction today, bought a few toys

My old truck is getting older and is starting to have a few issues, rust, no AC, needs tires, etc.  I also need something with a little more power so i have been looking at Diesel trucks.  I ended up with this 2005 GMC 6.6 Liter Turbo Diesel for $6600.  Turned out to be a solid truck, fully loaded with all the toys.

IMG_1253The reason I went to the auction on a wednesday was to buy a specific RV.  This 2006 Winnebago Sightseer was a bank repo from BC.  It only has 8000 miles on the original Triton V10 engine.  Interior is mint and the generator only has 54 hours on it, has a total of 2 slides and has 3 beds so it can sleep the whole family.  I was able to pick up the RV for $32,500, pretty good considering it was $112,000 8000 Miles ago.

The RV was registered out of province so i had to replace a few bulbs and find a marker light lens to get it ready for its Tuesday inspection. The only problem i have found so far is the fact it had become a home to a few wasps and a mouse or two. After a good cleaning it should be as good as new.
